Common questions about the metal dry bath series

The SEEWELLAB MDB series dry bath is a market-leading multi-functional LED digital display dry bath heating system that integrates precise temperature control, superior uniformity, and high-quality design.

It is an ideal choice for conventional sample heating, research, and chemical applications. To enhance the flexibility and effectiveness of the configuration, both the host and the module are available in a variety of specifications and models, with wide applications and very high cost performance.

This article provides answers to some common questions about the product. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us.

 Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Q 1: To what temperature can the dry bath of the MDB series be set for heating?

A 1: The output temperature range of the dry bath is: room temperature +10 to 200℃ (model MDB-104D, 106D)/room temperature +10 to 150℃. The set resolution is 0.1℃, and the temperature stability is ±0.1℃.

Q 2: What temperature mumber means on the dry bath screen?

A 2: The temperature displayed on the dry bath screen is the temperature measured by the internal sensor of the instrument, which is usually the final temperature reached by the heating module. However, sometimes the displayed temperature may slightly deviate from the actual temperature. After the instrument is heated and fully stabilized at a constant temperature, the actual temperature can be measured with a standard thermometer, and then the calibration function of the instrument can be used to calibrate the temperature displayed on the instrument to the actual temperature value.

Q 3: Will there be  temperature difference on the blocks?

A 3: The temperature on the heating modules is uniformly distributed. The temperature difference within A single module is controlled within ±0.1℃, and for multiple modules, the temperature difference between modules is controlled within ±0.2℃, ensuring uniform and constant temperature conditions.

Q 4: How long does it take to heat a dry bath? How long will it take for the temperature to stabilize?

A 4: The reference time for heating the dry bath from 25℃ to 100℃ is about 15 minutes. During the actual heating process, the heating indicator light will remain on continuously to indicate that heating is in progress. The smaller the span of temperature increase required, the shorter the heating time. When the module warms up to a temperature close to the set value, the heating indicator light will start to flash, and at this point, the heater will switch to a slow heating process. It will take another 30 to 45 minutes for the final temperature of the module to stabilize. Of course, the time it takes for the temperature of the heated test tube and the liquid to stabilize will vary depending on the material of the test tube and the solution. Therefore, if the temperature can reach a stable level within one hour, it is considered normal and does not indicate a problem with the instrument. It is recommended to stabilize the module at the set temperature in advance before use to reduce waiting time.

Q 5: After the temperature of the dry bath stabilizes, the temperature of the liquid in the test tube sometimes fluctuates up and down, with the fluctuation range even exceeding ±0.3℃, which is even greater than the instrument's accuracy of 0.1℃. What causes this?

A 5: Regarding the issue that the temperature of the liquid in the test tube sometimes fluctuates up and down after the temperature stabilizes, this is most likely caused by environmental factors. For instance, if there is cold air current above the test tube or the air flows too fast, it might be too close to a wind source (such as a window, fan, or air conditioner), etc. Keeping the surrounding environment of the instrument stable in terms of wind and heat can solve the problem. It is recommended to use it in an indoor environment without wind and with a stable room temperature. The optional safety cover can also be used, which can not only ensure that the test tube is not affected by the surrounding environment, but also protect the sample from contamination and prevent the user from accidentally touching the heating block.

Q 6: Besides the display screen temperature calibration, are there any more precise temperature control methods?

A 6: If a more precise temperature control method is needed, the external metal probe optional with the instrument can be used. In the instrument, select the mode of using an external metal probe. Fully immerse the external metal probe in the test tube liquid or keep it in close contact with the module. Besides the temperature measurement function, the metal probe can also feed back the measured temperature to the instrument to automatically adjust the temperature. It can provide real-time feedback on the temperature and adjust it, so that the actual temperature can reach the specified temperature more accurately.

Q 7: Does the dry bath have an alarm prompt function?

A 7: Yes. Fault alarm: The processor inside the instrument will monitor the heater in real time. If an abnormal heating of the heater is detected, the fault light will turn on, the fault character will flash on the display screen, and the buzzer will also sound as a reminder. When this situation occurs, please turn off the device and then restart it to solve the problem. If it still cannot be resolved, you can contact us by phone. Deviation alarm: The instrument provides the function of setting deviation alarm, with the deviation setting range being 0.5-10℃. If the deviation between the actual temperature and the set temperature exceeds the deviation set value, the fault light will come on and the buzzer will sound as a reminder. For specific Settings, please refer to the operation manual.

Q 8: What exactly is the function of the timer of the instrument?

A 8: Mainly the functions of timing the instrument operation and delaying the opening/closing of the heater. Reaction timing: The time setting range is 1 to 9 hours and 59 minutes. If a calculator is set, the actual temperature and the remaining time will be alternately displayed on the screen. When the countdown ends, the buzzer will sound to remind you that the timing has ended. The heater will not be affected whether the countdown starts, proceeds or ends. The reaction timer serves as a time reminder. Delayed on/off heater: This is a control method for turning on or off the heater after a specified period of time. When the delayed opening time ends, the heater starts to heat up. When the delayed stopping time ends, the heater stops heating. During the delayed stop time, the instrument continued to operate normally. The heater was turned off only after the delay time ended.
